Friday 20th September – Walk and bike**** Etratat from all sides!! Sunny periods

We woke up to blue skies:) After breakfast moved off and did some shopping at Lidl in Fecamp. We passed a McDonalds and decided to go and try to sort out the computer – 2 hours and many scans later we had put some photos on and caught up on e-mail etc.. Drove on to Yport which was a really nice little sea front between the cliffs with an Arch through the rock on the left hand side of the beach. We had our lunch here and filled up with water. Carried on to Etretat which has fantastic cliffs on both sides of the town and the most picturesque Arches. We parked on the cliff top and walked along to the right first of all. There was a footpath with lots of steps down nearly to the beach (another step ladder, this time ending in the sea!). There was a tunnel through the rock and we went through that, great fun. I walked out to where a fisherman was fishing right near the arch. Back to the van then we drove to the other side of town to see if we could find a place to access the cliffs on the left hand side. After lots of searching we finally decided to park in the entrance to a farm track and take the bikes. It was really great – the path led to the cliffs and there were several arches:) We had to leave the bikes locked up because the path was very up and down and very steep in places. We walked for miles and really enjoyed it. On our search for the appropriate path we had found a good spot to park for the night at the Phales d’Antifer – another lighthouse. We had curry for tea and watched the sun set and the full moon rise. A really good day:)
